Can the president pardon himself?

Drug addict lies on federal firearms form to purchase a firearm he can't legally own. Leaves firearm in his vehicle unsecured. Firearm taken by his SIL and thrown away in a public trash can. Fortunately, it was found by someone with a conscience and turned into the authorities.
