People rejecting the car company feels very much like a political statement. And in some cases, the only type of power that some people feel like they can do something to affect the person they see as causing these issues. For better or worse, the people/figureheads/leaders that are at the top of big companies typically don't operate in a vacuum. We can see what they say and do, and people are certainly within their rights to choose to send their business elsewhere if they feel it will make a statement.

I personally think that Musk is intentionally trying to sway conservatives so that they put butts in seats. He already got liberals onboard with EVs. Once someone drives an EV, they never want to go back to ICE. His actions might make Tesla a political hot-topic, but EVs will still be the better option. Liberals will still drive EVs, because it's the right thing to do, but maybe not Teslas. Conservatives will drive Tesla EVs because it irks liberals. Either way, EVs win, but maybe not Tesla. Having said that, I think Tesla is going to own the domestic auto market. I think GM and Ford are walking the Greenmile.

At what point was it possible to buy a Tesla without knowing that Elon is a piece of shit?

Our realtor friend drives hers all over the city and has not told us about any incidents, but incidents do seem to be on the rise nationwide. I see news stories of "retaliation" against owners and dealerships on Reddit almost daily lately, along with cheering and gloating from the usual suspects.

In a nation of 300 million people, and what, 5 million Teslas?, a handful of incidents are bouncing around social media.

I haven't heard that they've caught anyone yet to verify the leanings of the vandals so it could just have easily been a disgruntled Bannon/MAGA follower, p!ssed off conservative vet or a host of others that have a bone to pick with Musk. Other than DOGE bros and fanboyz this guy is on a lot of peoples s h!t list now.

In contrast to what this post talks about, I am a Chevy Bolt EUV owner.
Now that the Tesla charging network has been opened up via adaptors to Chevy and others, I did buy an adaptor. The feeling is, on longer or multi day trips, it will make it much easier with many more charging locations. I have heard from many non Tesla EV owners that when they use the Supercharger network, the Tesla owners have 'an air about them' and range from angry that someone else is using their network to worse. Of course some just don't care. I have decided that using that network will be my last choice, just to give as little cash in the pockets "of them." Dave
