I'm voting against McCain regardless of who gets the nod from the Democrats. Clear and simple.

[quote $tevie][quote JoeH]Even though they are reporting it as a 10% victory margin, she only won by 9.4% over Obama. To be able to use the 10% figure, they had to round up her vote percentage and round down his.
This is the sort of nitpicking that is driving me crazy. The media is all about rounding up and down, but suddenly they are expected to quote exact fractions because it's Hillary Clinton being discussed.

[quote JoeH]She was listed as a 20% favorite only a few weeks ago in PA.
Now THIS is a legitimate comment about a statistic that has value, and merits discussion. Why you had to lead off with a whiny nitpick is beyond me.
Not whining, you are reading too much into it. Or is it that you are too thin skinned? In any case that is based on how CNN and other media outlets are reporting it, they are the ones who decided to do that so they could report a "double-digit" win. Because a single-digit win would not make it seem like quite as much a fight left maybe? In any case, you normally do not round up a 0.4 to the next digit, that is bad math at the best, not a nitpick. Or can I charge you $10 for an item costing $9.40?

P.S. I am not an Obama supporter, but the same can be said for the Hillary supporters that you claim for his, "but the sense of entitlement that his supporters convey these days is turning me off of him really badly." The candidate I preferred was out of the race a long time ago.

As for "the rules", no, the DNC did not require candidates remove names from the ballot. But they did say if not already on they should not get their name on, and that they should not campaign in those two states. So that is where Hillary "broke the rules". So it is kinda specious for Clinton to claim a "win" when she essentially ran unopposed, and even after campaigning only managed to get 55% in Michigan and 50% in Florida. With no campaigning, Obama got 33% in Florida.

[quote mattkime]I don't know if michigan is the same but the decision to move up florida's primary was made by republicans.

this was a republican created problem.
If the Republicans were truly to blame for the issue in Florida wouldn't the kind-hearted Howard Dean feel compelled to step up to the plate and make their votes count? What a fantastic way to snub their noses at those evil Republicans who tried to ruin the Florida Primary.

By the way, Michigan has a Democratic majority. Are the Republicans to blame for the mess there too? The DNC needs to step up to the plate and accept responsibility for this fiasco. They had a long time to work out some sort of compromise, yet nothing got done.

There's no "if" to it. They were. It's fact. Dean's objective is to save Democratic face by trying to stick by the rules (a stupid rule) since he doesn't want to spend the money it would take to revote the state.

Tina Fey: Well, Paris Hilton is a name that's on everyone's lips these past few weeks. Here now, in an exclusive interview with Jimmy Fallon, is Paris Hilton.

Jimmy Fallon: Thanks for coming on.

Paris Hilton: It's nice to be here.

Jimmy Fallon: Uh, as we agreed, we won't be discussing the scandal, uh.. that's been in the papers the past couple of weeks, alright?

Paris Hilton: Thank you, Jimmy. I appreciate that.

Jimmy Fallon: We just want to find out about you - Paris Hilton. Okay. So, your family - I don't know if a lot of people know it - the Hiltons - they own hotels all over the world, right?

Paris Hilton: Yes, they're in New York, London, Paris..

Jimmy Fallon: Oh, wait - so there actually is a Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: Yes, there is.

Jimmy Fallon: [ his set-up secure, begins the real interview ] Is it hard to get into the Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: Actually, it's a very exclusive hotel - no matter what you've heard.

Jimmy Fallon: Uh, I-I-I hear the Paris Hilton is very beautiful.

Paris Hilton: I'm glad that you've heard that.

Jimmy Fallon: Uh.. do they allow double-occupancy at the Paris Hilton?

Paris Hilton: No.

Jimmy Fallon: Is the Paris Hilton roomy?

Paris Hilton: It might be for you.. but.. most people find it very comfortable.

Jimmy Fallon: Well, I-I-I-I'm a VIP, alright? I might need to go in the back entrance.

Paris Hilton: It doesn't matter who you are - it's not going to happen.

Jimmy Fallon: Okay, now, uh.. I throw a lot of events. Uh, do they have a ballroom there?

Paris Hilton: We do.

Jimmy Fallon: Great! I'd love to have my balls held by the Paris Hilton. It sounds awesome! I'd actually like to, uh.. I'd like to check in to the Paris Hilton.

Paris Hilton: I don't think you can.

Jimmy Fallon: Really? Because.. really.. I'd only be able to stay there, like, a minute - minute and a half, or something.. two minutes, tops. I mean --

Paris Hilton: Good luck.

Jimmy Fallon: Paris Hilton, everybody! For Weekend Update, I'm Jimmy Fallon!

Tina Fey: I'm Tina Fey! Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow!

>>What a fantastic way to snub their noses at those evil Republicans who tried to ruin the Florida Primary.

Lemme get this straight - the dem party says "if you do that, your votes won't count" and they do it. what do they expect?

you're arguing that the right thing to do is to go back on their word?

if the people are mad, they should take it up with their state legislature.

>>By the way, Michigan has a Democratic majority.

by 6 of 110 seats. and a -4 majority in the state senate - so i'm not sure who is to blame.

There's plenty of "if" to it.

The FDP first voted to move up their Primary and then it got nearly unanimous bipartisan support. The Democrats WANTED this and PUSHED for this.
Florida House 118 to 0 (77R - 43D)
Florida Senate 37 to 2 (26R - 14D)

There's not 118 Republicans in the House and 37 in the Senate. Blame the Florida Republican's all you want, but the numbers speak for themselves. The Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.

Not only that but the DNCs rules contradict themselves regarding the Primary dates. What a mess.
