obama manufactured? raised by a single parent. lives with his white grandparents in kansas. most often the "other" in each of his communities. works hard. does great in school. gets to columbia univ and then harvard law. president of the law review. graduates near top of class. doesn't take the easy money job but starts on a trail of service these past 17 years since graduation. votes no on iraq.

mccain manufactured? raised in a well connected naval family. father gets him into naval academy where he graduates last in his class. goes to war. crashes 3 planes. survives pow camp. upon arrival home leaves wife who has waited for him when he was overseas. marries into very wealthy politically connected family arizona family. gets to senate. involved in keating five banking and loan scandal. not indicted by senate but ethics commission rebukes him for poor judgement. glad-hands his way in the senate for 2 decades. finally bows to religious right and adopts bush policies previously rejected. votes yes on iraq war.

now, who is a media creation?

ymmv

be well

by most accounts McCain crashed more than three planes...five or so.

Obama manufactured? He manufactured himself by giving a great speech at the Dem convention 4 years ago. That's about it.

McCain is very tight on the draw with the release of his complete military record...supposedly for good reason.

Sarah? You're watching the manufacturing process right now...that speech was manufactured..it was the same ole RNP bs and that voice is just plain annoying. She should have had a role in Fargo.

[quote haikuman]Some of you folks are so funny...
My own parents were democrats but always issued one clear message.

Vote for the Candidate

Obama is a media manufactured candidate.

Mavricks with demerits, nearly nominal, pushing the envelope,
l@@king real with peccadilos like you and me.

ooops.... I forgot some of us here using macs are the purrrrfect consciousness and realize whats best for the whole..... errr or is that hole Tongue

There is a fine line between a rut and a groove....

I only know a little.. I am just expressing one mans opinion of moonlight.

In the long run... we are measured by our deeds... actions and character.. not what we would like you to believe might be our future deeds....

I remember this infamous line shared with me as a very youngman........
"" if I could ..would you """ imho... that is all obama is about ....

forgive my passion if you can .... or just issue the proper # of demerits *(:>*

..... You are right on the money there. Obama's just a puppet, a blank slate, an empty shell.
I understand he meditates for 2 hours each morning, with the goal of completely emptying his brain so that there's nothing there to interfere with his programming.

My wife just donated to PUMA

I get a kick out of it because up until this election year, she's not been involved in reading or participating in message boards and forums and or anything like that, but this year, she watches the news with her notebook computer in her lap. She'll read out loud when she comes across a post worth sharing, and keeps me up on what the PUMAs are saying. Something I'd otherwise not have any exposure to or interest in. She is more tuned into news and politics and current events than before. Gives us something to talk about.

However, I'm still heavily medicated from this kidney stone, and have been sleeping a lot, I've missed this week's political events. When I wake up, I get updates, then doze off again. It's interesting to see her get this involved in current events, watching both conventions avidly.

I'm almost glad to be sleeping through the RNC. If you think Republican speeches are hard to watch, try watching them on drugs. Not a pretty sight!

Okay, lets be pragmatic here. How many modern candidates are NOT a creation of the media to one extent or the other?

Can we all personally meet and get to know the candidates in depth? No. We have to get information from, ta-dah, the media!

Whether it's independent news sources or the candidate's own PR machine, we get our info from others. We read newspapers, we read blogs, we watch debates on TV moderated by members of what? The media!

So I'm not really sure what you mean by "Media Manufactured." It sounds like an attack word used to demean a candidate.
