Vanity License Plates
#21
When I get my next car, I'm gonna get a vanity plate with the same #s and letters of my current non-vanity plate.

'Cuz I can't remember stuff.

I have thought of getting a vanity plate—

with a sequence of random numbers and letters.

But not if it costs me any money.

I once saw this plate. A girl was driving. Some would say she was 'hot', I will say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and would not want to impose my opinion of her on others.

What do YOU think this means? We at the office had our guesses....

The Best CAR in the world.... or The Best C**T In The World.

In washington state they are only allowed to charge $35 to renew tabs. To create new revenue we are now forced to purchase new license plates every couple of years wether we need them or not. To make the scam even worse they don't reissue the same plate number so you have to memorize a new plate.

I said "to heck with it" and I pay $15/yr to have my ham license on my license plate. I can always remember that and if I'm going to pay anyway I might as well get what I want.

So now when I'm traveling around, I'll be able to identify you!

Actually, you do not have to get a new plate number, either. Years ago, both my husband and I were able to score the "poor man's vanity plate", which included the year in which we graduated from Florida State University. Mine was 0XX FSU, and his was OXY FSU. I sold my car without knowing I could keep the plate, but my son somehow found out. When it was time to renew the plate on the car my husband had been driving, he was able to pay a small additional fee to have a new plate made with the same number on it. I think it was $25, but it's good for seven years, so that wasn't a big outlay, and it made his dad (who died later that year) very happy. My friend now owns that car, and she's a University of Florida graduate. I think she's a real sport for continuing to drive a car that says FSU, but I'm sure she'll be very happy when she gets a new plate number. Smile (In case you don't know, the rivalry between FSU and UF is every bit as strong, if not stronger, than the one between UW and WSU.)

Not just driving around. Licenses are filed with the FCC. The FCC has a website.

What is the deal with these things?
If you have a vanity plate whose meaning is private or obscure, doesn't that kind of defeat the whole "vanity" aspect?

Who cares what you think? It's about ME!
