It looks great, though I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of multi-tasking and I simply cannot imagine what possessed them to exclude a frakking camera. This would be the PERFECT iChat device, if only! WTF are they thinking? Is this something that AT&T is preventing them from doing to stop us from having videochat capability (same as the iPhone)?

Hey you gotta leave something for the 2nd generation iPad!

I doubt it. It's such an obvious omission that they must have a reason for it, and it certainly wouldn't be cost.

So, since it has a microphone and speaker and 3G, is there anything to stop this from operating as a VOIP phone with unlimited no-contract calling for only $30/month? There must be a way for AT&T to stop that from happening.

You can connect it to a VGA monitor. They probably included this so that it can be used for presentations via a projector.

Good luck.

No, because it doesn't need any of those things.

There may be peripherals yet, they'll just have to use the Dock port.

If it had a camera, would be looking up people's noses a lot of the time. iMacs and Apple displays are a better use of the iSight.

Nice catch on the display data, Winston.

I bet it was cost. The pricing seems fairly aggressive, certainly lower than most, if not everyone thought it would be. Now add not just a camera, but a good camera that won't embarrass itself when viewed on the 9 or 10" screen. Even if you could hold the resulting retail addition to $30-50 more they would have missed their targets.

Sorry if I missed it, is it a glass screen? Whatever, I want one.

The iPod touch has a glass screen.
I have dropped mine several times (once going down a huge hill on my bike), and it has nary a scratch.

Hey, I just checked apple's website and it is compatible with the apple wireless keyboard. Now, when are they going to port that compatibility over to my iPhone?

I wonder if it will work in external monitor mode like an iMac?
