I doubt it. It's such an obvious omission that they must have a reason for it, and it certainly wouldn't be cost.

So, since it has a microphone and speaker and 3G, is there anything to stop this from operating as a VOIP phone with unlimited no-contract calling for only $30/month? There must be a way for AT&T to stop that from happening.
You'd think, but they left a speaker off the original iPod touch when it was included on the iPhone. They of course added it back in a subsequent generation. I wouldn't doubt at all that it is a holdback for the second generation device.

Sorry if I missed it, is it a glass screen? Whatever, I want one.

The iPod touch has a glass screen.
I have dropped mine several times (once going down a huge hill on my bike), and it has nary a scratch.
Mine has 2 small 1/4" long scratches, I have no idea how it got them.

No, think iPod Touch/iPhone—not Macintosh. It syncs with iTunes on a host Mac.

Sounds alike.

Should have used a different name. No?

Can't think of a reason I would need this... My iPhone is much more portable and just as capable with more features (camera).

Still waiting for an update to iTV and iLife.

I am more interested in what Apple's plans are for semiconductor fabrication and future use.
