For some reason, I envision Micro$oft somehow making use of the Rolling Stones again...

It is called Mesh, and I've been using it for three years.

http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mesh?os=other

It is free, unlimited, and extremely easy to use. I have it set up on three macs and one windows machine. I have about 250 Gb of files and data synchronized across all three machines.

They have a Skydrive (cloud) which I choose not to use. Instead, my files are synchronized via a p2p connection between the computers, which means that it is extremely fast and updates almost instantly.

I'm not sure why mac users think that anything new to them is new to everyone.

As I scrolled down this thread I'm wondering if anyone would mention Mesh. I couldn't remember what it was called either, but yesterday the wife recalled something she read from some guy outlining the differences, wherein he said, "...it's called Windows Mesh, but *nobody's* heard of it."

Or maybe it's Windows Live, or SkyDrive, or Pornoshere. I don't know, because they don't consistently market stuff like this. It's where Google got their marketing ideas from: just throw it against the wall and see if it sticks. Even when Apple changes the name they deliver a consistent message throughout.

I think that's why Mac users think that anything new to them is new to everyone. And I bet there are some Windows users there, too.

There will be different flavors:

Windows Ether Home Edition
Windows Ether Business Edition
Windows Ether Business Edition with Service Pack
Windows Ether Professional Edition
Windows Ether Professional Edition with Service Pack
Windows Ether Super-Professional Edition
Windows Ether Super-Professional Edition with Service Pack
Windows Ether Super-Professional Edition with Service Pack Upgradeable Edition

All will be bundled with 6 GB of crapware that will pop up at the most inopportune time and ask if you want to purchase the full version.

Wasn't that simple?

And when is everyone going to stop using the term "phone" since Apple has an iPhone?
