Om, there are plenty! coyotes, fox, bobcats, bears, owls, hawks, 'iggles, etc.

Some of the cats are indoor/outdoor. They haven't been let out since they arrived. My Sis is scared to death that something will grab them.

Oh yeah! I went to see it a few weeks ago. It needs a few things done, but nothing serious. There are also a few red flags, one being no cable internet. This is out in the boonies, after all.

Heyyy, that's complicit behavior, pal.

Go rural if possible. It's great for pets to be outside 24/7, even in winter. Of course a porch or other shelter is ideal. OK if I'm being honest the little dog hates to be cold and we pamper him with a spot in the garage on the coldest nights.

Unfortunately this isn't an option in the city or suburbia, but my solution there is to not have pets. Life (yours ... ) will go on. None of that B.S. rushing home to let the dog out. Really? We leave for 2-3 days at a time and the dogs take care of themselves outside, no leash required.

We have 3 cats, 5 dogs, another (the developmentally disabled pup we're keeping inside because she's got a ton of problems and ain't gonna really make it) and the 2 goats (we had 3; one fell on the hotwire, couldn't get up, and so yeah) and 4 horses and need to make a "decision" about one of them this winter.

Wow! What a house! I’m in the WashDC area (No Va) and a house like that, on the water and the right neighborhood, would go for 1.5 to 2mil.

As for the 11 cats, that’s about nine too many for us.

Check SpaceX.com to see if they offer Starlink service. $500 down for equipment, $100/mo for 20-150Mbps down, 5-10Mbps up, short latency (20-40ms). My daughter and son-in-law have Starlink on their farm in rural Nova Scotia (north of Halifax). Much better reliability and throughput compared with DSL (1-5Mbps down, 0.5Mbps up, latency 40-100ms) that was their only prior option.

Yes, I've read about it and feel it may be my only option if I get too rural.
