Forum Tesla owners.....any of you experience hate or vandalism in all the time you've owned a Tesla?

This thread makes me sad, and on so many fronts.

First, why is what we drive so important to anyone?

Second, moving towards sustainable energy such as going to EVs is critical for our future on Planet Earth.

Lastly, that there so much angst over Tesla - on either or both 'sides'. I really like our Teslas, and I find the CEO to be obnoxious and deeply polarizing.

I have issues with a number of corporate CEOs - starting with Mark Zuckerberg.

But I also deeply object to vandalism of any kind, even were it targeted against MZ etc.

So far, my wife and I have not had any incidents. But we are ground zero for Tesla, and I suspect any such vandalism would attract a LOT of negative press against the vandal(s).

It's something people know he cares about. There's a lot of youth out there with a ton of energy to burn. They're not always rational.

It's kinda like when people protest about something important and as a consequence, stores get looted and buildings are burned. People hate that (why are they burning down their own community???) and they fixate on the looting as if it combusted out of nowhere, for no reason.

I could see this coming from how Elon handled the Pandemic and when he called that guy a child molester. He was losing it then. We're just little people. We can't control others. We do know that chaos begets chaos. He's impatient and doesn't like hurdles and impediments blocking his vision.

For the same reason some of us didn't eat grapes between 1965 - 1970. It's a political stance.

I had several jeers by passersby when mine was totaled. Otherwise just coal rolls, which were probably more frequent in our Prius. Buy what you want for whatever reasons, but you’ve got no right to abuse others fo there choice.

Pretty much unrelated but yesterday we were shopping for tile. The owner of the shop walked us to the door and she asked if that was our car (2014 Cadillac PHEV). She walked out to look at it and asked if it was for sale (nope). Then after I showed her that it plugged in she told us to call her if it was ever for sale. Next I told her how much it was worth ($6k with 102k miles on the odometer). She couldn’t believe it and asked us to wait while she went back to get her camera and then she proceeded to take pictures of the entire outside and inside. Sometimes it’s not that it’s an EV but the appearance of the vehicle that just might convert someone from ICE. And no one will ever confuse it for a Tesla.

Someone lightly hit my Rivian's front bumper, leaving a nice dent, and didn't leave a note.

Most likely just a crappy person/driver, though.

On a slight bunny trail, I'm not a fan of any of the Teslas, except the new 2025 Model Y.

It's actually pretty nice looking, to my eye.

While the falcon-wing doors on the other model is trick, I don't like the look of the vehicle itself.

I think the new Model Y hits all of the things that were not quite right about the first design. A polished car for sure.

I think that era PHEVs are great cars. Too bad GM dumped the entire path.
