While living in Oman, wife and I often had one of my Omani colleagues and his wife over for dinner. Once I asked him what would happen if we inadvertently served them pork. Although a very devout Muslim, his response was that as long as he did not know about it until afterward it would not be a problem.
The dominant Islamic sect in Oman is Ibadi, with roots in East Africa but rare in the rest of the Muslim world. One of the primary attributes of Ibadi is its tolerance of others. Here is a link that tells about it. http://www.uga.edu/islam/ibadis.html

Dakota just wants to diss everything about this event because he's pissed Obama is the one who got bin Ladin. I wouldn't bother dignifying it with a serious response.
Anyhow, the idea that this was an Islamic custom was refuted yesterday so he is wasting everyone's time with this argument.

I hope you have learned by now that what I say here becomes the news in a few days. You are just making yourself look like a fool by denying it. This is for you ¢tevie(by the way, how do you like the fact that I can reduce you to 1/100 of what you think you are worth with a couple of keystrokes?)
Was burying bin Laden at sea a mistake? By Zachary Roth The sea burial "runs contrary to the principles of Islamic laws, religious values and humanitarian customs," Sheik Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand Imam of Cairo's al-Azhar mosque, told the AP. And Mohammed al-Qubaisi, Dubai's grand mufti, echoed that view. "If the family does not want him, it's really simple in Islam: You dig up a grave anywhere, even on a remote island, you say the prayers and that's it." He added: "Sea burials are permissible for Muslims in extraordinary circumstances," he added. "This is not one of them." And Abdul-Sattar al-Janabi, who preaches at Baghdad's Abu Hanifa mosque declared: "It is not acceptable, and it is almost a crime to throw the body of a Muslim man into the sea," adding that the action "might provoke some Muslims." http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout...-a-mistake

Oh really, or is it that every now and then evan a blind squirrel will find an acorn (or in this case it was 'news' before you even asked)? You'd have better odds making a buck in the casinos than telling the truth. Keep living that fantasy, I'm sure that even the conservatives around here don't believe your mental constructs.
