Liz Cheney concession speech

Her father grifted enough from our Dept of Defense via Haliburton to keep her family and half of Wyoming safe through the next few generations.

Aside from the fact that Harriet Hageman looks like a circus clown who had 50 pounds of collagen injected into her face, and Cheney looks like a serious person who can use logic and empirical knowledge, this election isn't going to change how that seat votes in the Senate.

Cheney's seat is in the House not the Senate. I only mention that not to correct a trivial mistake but because I think it's messed up that Wyoming only has one House seat--because their population is so small at just 576,851 people--but two Senators. They have more Senators than House Reps! Wyoming gets the same number of Senators as California with a population almost 68 times greater.

Yes. She said she had to have armed security with her at all times while she was campaigning.

I admire what she has done, at great personal risk to her political career.

What I don’t get, is that when a Republican acts like a Democrat - speaks the truth re Jan 6, for instance, or votes not to scrap Obamacare without any replacement in mind (like McCain) - they are transformed into some kind of a political saint, immediately being placed above any Dem who’s been holding the same reasonable position for years.

My wife asked if I would vote for her in 2024. I said if she were the running mate of Biden or Harris I definitely would.

She didn’t like that answer.

Today’s Republican party has not only gone bat-shit crazy, they strictly enforce bat-shit craziness among their ranks. In that setting, I recognize that for a Republican to not be bat-shit crazy requires political fortitude, but I don’t think they deserve a medal just for not being bat-shit crazy.

PS - apparently Cheney’s opponent is too busy to take a call from her opponent conceding the election:

Liz Cheney has released her concession call to Harriet Hageman, after the Trump-backed Republican who won the Wyoming US House primary on Tuesday told Fox News her rival had not made “any kind of concession or anything else”.

Cheney gave a recording of the call to Politico. In it, she said: “Hi, Harriet, it is Liz Cheney calling. It is about 8.13 [pm] on Tuesday the 16th. I’m calling to concede the election and congratulate you on the win. Thanks.”

Politico adds:

In an interview with POLITICO on Wednesday, Cheney said she had tried to call Hageman three times, but ultimately left a voicemail before she took the stage at her election night party. Cheney added that she never heard back from Hageman.

She is just such a class act.

She is the typical, horrible republican.

I admire her for defending democracy instead of bending the knee, but she is not someone I would support politically.
Well I dunno. The typical, horrible Republican is following/supporting Baron Trumpkonnen right now.
I'm believing that there are still typical, horrible republicans. Like Cheney, Rmoney, etc. They believe that the rich need to get richer at the expense of everyone else. And that everyone needs to live their life according to (what they think are) christian ideals.

Trumplicans are simply outright traitors/insurrectionists.
