One problem with Lasik is, that if you have it done when young, it will overcorrect when you get older. Every time I go for an eye exam, my nearsightedness becomes less and less - if I had done Lasik 10 years ago, I'd be way out of whack by now.

I wear glasses but take 'em off when I sit down at the computer & see just fine within a range of about 2'. It's getting increasingly difficult to focus in on things close up but I have a magnifying headband with LEDs on each side that gets the job done nicely.

One day I'll need new lenses to correct cataracts but I'm not there yet & couldn't afford it if I were.

Contacts at work, but only because I'm vain. My glasses would seem scarifyingly thick if I were to wear them in public: around -16 diopters correction.

I want the kind of vision I had when I was 15.

In my late high school and early college years my vision was gradually getting worse. I finally decided I needed glasses. I had a college friend recommend I go to the university Department of Ophthalmology rather than a regular optometrist because they would be a lot more thorough (not sure why I needed that--just to make sure I didn't have any medical problems I guess).

So the doctor did a zillion tests and apparently found nothing medically wrong. After he was finished he sat down with me and asked "So why are you here?" I said "Because my vision has gotten a lot worse. I can't see as well as I used to and I need glasses." He told me my vision was 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other! My vision must have been crazy when I was a kid.

I have worn glasses ever since. I'm sure it hasn't been 20/20 for many years. My correction is entirely astigmatism though.

That great vision you had back in high school started to degrade when you discovered masturbation.... admit it.

I got LASIK. I went from almost blind to 20/15 in both eyes.

Glasses since fifth grade. Near sighted with some astigmatism.

Contacts for some years, since I'm doing lots of work in front of a computer screen now, mostly just the glasses.

Contacts for surfing.

Lasik sounds interesting. I'm old enough that my eyes are getting better. And kinda cheap too...

Glasses.
wore contacts for amost 20 years without problems, but not 100% correcting my astigmatism.
I'm also developing an accomodation problem, fortunately progressives and constant eye exercise help.

My glasses are intrusive enough for me.

Been wearning glasses since the second grade. Tried contacts when I was 19 and HATED them. I got a goopy buildup in them within an hour, and had worse vision than glasses. Everyone I knew that had contacts said they saw better with them than glasses, but not me.

As for Lasik, I have a very good friend who had it done a couple of years ago, and she regrets it. She has really dry eyes now, and has to put in drops several times a day. Plus she says she doesn't see as well as she did with glasses.

I've never really found glasses to be that inconvenient. Most sports/activities that I participate in outdoors has me wearing sunglasses (perscription) anyway. And when I played volleyball indoors for years, I never found them to be a problem. And for SCUBA, I have perscription lenses in my mask. Ditto for swim goggles.
