OT: Losing another pet... sigh.
#1
When they call back, I'm taking our little black Pomeranian, Gretchen, in to the emergency vet to... sigh... release her from her pain. She developed a systemic infection, became septic, and her vet says her immune system is too badly compromised for her to survive it. We thought she was rallying, but took a turn for the worse, and now she's in and out of consciousness and sinking fast. And when she's conscious she's in pain. She's only 10 years old, but hasn't been doing too well the last couple of years.

I don't want to do this, but I can't let her die like this, in such pain and suffering.

We will miss her.

Oh, that's so sad. I'm sorry for your loss, but know that you are doing the right thing. Ending the painful suffering is the best that you can do for her, be with her, if you can. You will have fond memories of her.

Poor Gretchen, that's very sad. But better not to let her suffer as you already know.

Oh man, so sorry.
In a similar situation, I believe most of us will break our hearts to do what is best of our best friend.

Just passed the one-year anniversary of putting our Pepper down, and it still hurts. But you got to do the right thing. Hang in there in.
