probably Mac Connection will open it, and toss in a "Not For Resale" 10.6 disk. Most big resellers do this.

Yes, you will still get the restore media, and then you will get a drop in 10.6 DVD. You will be able to do a clean install of 10.6 if you want, however, if you want to get the iLife apps your computer came with you will either have to install 10.5 first then update to 10.6 or see if you can run an applications only install from the restore media.

The original installation comes on two disks. I believe that all the iLife apps come on the second disk and you can install them even if you do a clean install from the 10.6 disk. When you start up from the first 10.5.x disk there is an option to "install additional software"

The plastic macbooks are a good generation to skip-- get yourself a base model aluminum/unibody from the refurb store for just a tiny bit more.
