APC Back-UPS XS 1300VA LCD 120V Battery Backup - 780 Watt, 8-Outlets $120/free shipping
#1
A few weeks ago I had to replace my ”expired“ Belkin UPS. At that time I found a really good deal on a $200 Geek Squad 1500VA UPS for $80 at Best Buy.

My first choice would have been an APC, but at the time there were no “deals” or “specials” being offered.

This seems to be a good buy which was mentioned on today's DM newsletter for sale at TigerDirect. I know some have complained about TigerDirect, but I've had no problems.

This unit has AVR and additional protection for phone, modem and network.

Anyway, here's the link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...No=3855134&sku=A75-5000&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=NKa3hZyYoHA-WSQaZWV8VesEf4Cm1A5tLA

Good deal. I find for name brand UPS's, anything under VA/10 is a good deal - eg 1300VA/10 = $130.

If the price waw right sure, why not get the extra protection? I wouldn't pay a large extra premium though.

Wasn't there a posting some months ago about the BX-part number XS series models being made by APC for retail outlets like BestBuy and the like with reduced features compared to their normal line? I went looking for it, but could not find it right away. Anyone recall what you are not getting from this line of APC UPS's?

Not much difference. I think it was things like coax connectors, and maybe rj-11 and rj-45. You can get those in a cheap surge protector so it's not a huge issue. Plus this is the LCD model so it's actually a bit nicer.
