Ticketmaster

How do you deal with this automated crap? I want to buy tickets for a show but don't want the damn seats their auto system keeps shoving at me. I know there are other seats in my price that are available, but both online and on the phone it keeps shoving the same seats at me with no other options. What happened to being able to see available seats? For that matter what happened to being able to talk to a real person? Any tips??? It doesn't appear that anyone else can sell these tickets except Ticketmaster.

The term you are searching for is "Monopoly Power".

Out of control charges on tickets are one of the big reasons we go to shows less. There are too many fees in the transaction and no "service". We saw BB King in 2006 and the fees (in total) were about 30% of what we paid (tickets were $120/pair, TM fees/upcharges were $50).

I am old enough to remember Ticketron and BASS, where their fees were about $3/ticket on a $25 ticket (Genesis in 1986), and people griped that was a lot then.

I try to go directly to the box office but that is only feasible on occasion. Luckily, I live in an area with lots of indy clubs and the big places that have box office hours.

edit: ooops, forgot to respond to original question: I have had problems with different browsers on occasion but not lately. I thought they fixed any problems on that front. there is a help line listed somewhere (IIRC) you could try that route.
