Still looking at options for a netflix streaming capable media appliance. Looking for a $100-$150 BluRay DVD player w/ NetFlix support. Then looking at Roku devices seeing the one I'd need would be around $100 (no need for wi-fi seeing I have a Cat5e plug next to my TV)... Now thinking of holding off a few months to get a Nintendo wii which are slatted to have NetFlix support (official support w/o loading any additional unsupported software).
Obviously if I only want NetFlix support I can technically just get a cable for my MacBook Pro and hook it up that way. However, it would be nice to just get a device that my wife and kids could figure out.
Anyone have a Roku and happy with it? Or am I better off just getting a BluRay DVD player or wii (when they finally support NetFlix).
Looking for input.

I'd wait for the Wii if it really is going to come out. It doesn't even have a DVD player, I wouldn't have figured it could handle the video.

I finally broke down at ordered the Roku HD the other day. It's supposed to show up today.
I did consider a bluray/netflix player, but I'm not really all that jazzed about bluray, so I decided to go for a strictly netflix box.

My dad has the Roku and he loves it. Everytime I talk to him he crows about it, how inexpensive it is, how good the quality is, etc etc. He also has an appletv.

How likely is it that the Wii will have Netflix Streaming support? That'd be great!!

I'd like to hold off for a wii. Haven't had a console since my GameCube which now sits in a box in the basement (the kids prevented me from playing it much and put it away... I have the version that came with all the Zelda's on one DVD) and my wife and I want a wii sooner or later. My oldest son will be five in April and has ASD (high functioning and loves my classic arcades in the basement) so maybe he would love the wii... I really want the new Super Mario Brothers.
Just wish we would have an official announcement and a time frame from NetFlix and Nintendo ... I really have very little desire for blu-ray.

The Roku HD is great. Not only do I watch quite a bit of Netflix, I also watch video podcasts on the Roku.

I vote for Roku over BR player. I just don't know where BR will be in 5 years, so I'm unwilling to invest in a BR player and BR movies. In fact, the last few years, the only DVDs I buy are for my kids. I just don't have the time I used to to watch a movie more than once and Netflix & Redbox really offer great value.
I can't tell the difference between 480p (DVD) and 720p from more than 8 feet on my 42" plasma. Even up close, the difference is minimal. 1080p would be great, but frankly I'd much rather watch a great movie in 480p than a good movie in 1080p.
So if I had already had a Wii, I wouldn't care if streaming came in at 480p and I'd be willing to wait a while to see if Netflix will bring streaming to Wii. If I didn't have a Wii or wanted get streaming now, I'd probably get the Roku SD box; I don't have the bandwidth to stream full HD and I don't even know what is available in full HD/DTS . You can always move it to a bedroom if you later decide you love it and you want to get the Roku HD or HDXR.
