Yes, but the electronic texts themselves will STILL cost a fortune, and the kids will STILL break the iPads.

Net loss until the textbook industry is burned down and rebuilt, and the iPad gets a bit cheaper.

Of course, that's assuming that that $599 price is correct, and there's not a substantial school discount.
Time will tell.

Jem - the refresh button is your friend. The auto-refresh option isn't working so great on engadget right now.

If it's $450 or less, I'll order one TODAY.

Up to $600, I'll get one by summer.

Over that, and it doesn't really do anything I need done that my Macbook won't do...just in a less cool way.

Was trying that for a while and... NOTHING. Finally came back on its own with a lot of updates.
