Apple Store Cracked Stair Sells for $9,500 in eBay Auction
#11
For a one of a kind geek item, I know a few people that might bid on it. On a different issue, on why Seele is making an issue about it. It's not clear from the story (or the links) but there can be situations in which custom manufactured items, even damaged ones, are to be returned to the manufacturer/third party. There can be custom design work on fittings, fabrication, composition that the manufacturer wants to keep to itself as much as possible and in a cost-effective way. There is usually a contract between manufacturer and the client which would spell this out. That being said, the repair people probably made a mistake putting it on the curb, and Seele could have been more polite.

Proof positive that some people have more money than they know what to do with!!

Ain't nothin wrong with that.

A nice place to be.

Burstiner saved the glass heading to the trash after it was fractured by a customer’s Snapple bottle.

Another reason to ban food and drink from a store.

It was headed for the trash? I wonder why Apple and Seele wanted it back. Super secret glass formula? Core charge?

There were some pretty stupid comments on that link. I'd like to have seen Apple go after the step, just to see what the legalities were.

The auction was won by a Nigerian bidder who will send him a check for $19,500 and ask that the $10k be given to the delivery driver when he come to pick up the step.

I don't see anything wrong with an offer like that! :jest:
