A long time ago I was barely a teen and found a game called Discs of Tron in the arcades. The controls and interface was seamless and I soon found myself in the game. I think a lot of bike riders know where I am going. Sometimes you get a feeling like you and the machine are one.
Well I got that feeling again. I was browsing the web on my wife's new iPad. The keyboard was gone the mouse was gone and I was just holding he internet in my hands. I didn't believe the hype at first. But the iPad does really do the internet better than any desktop or laptop.

I have yet to try one out. I'm guessing it will be one of those things that you didn't realize you needed until you had it in your hands.

I've read that some of the driving games made for iPad are good examples of that as well.
Haven't yet had the pleasure but can believe it. Being able to not have to target your input to a keyboard, trackpad or mouse and go straight at the content with your finger via a machine designed expressly for that must be a huge advantage.

This is exactly what Jobs does, and does it well. I was the same way with the iPod.
There will still be people how won't "get it", even with a hands-on. It's not for everyone; it wasn't meant to be.
But for those of us who realize what this can do for *us*, the iPad is an exquisite solution.
I have a few minor complaints, but nothing that even remotely makes me regret the purchase.
Apps are needlessly expensive. I believe that for the moment, most DEVs are trying to cash in on the buying frenzy. One of the driving games, though gorgeous, is $15. Cheaper than a console game, but just too pricey for my blood.
I'm hoping that the prices will drop in time and pricing bar won't be set so high.

Agreed! I'm holding off the purchase of some of the higher priced apps, because I feel it will be just like how it was when the app store first opened. I had a first gen. Touch and loaded up with a bunch of apps for nearly $10. each, only to watch the prices of those apps drop significantly over a short period of time.
That said, I did buy a few reasonably priced must haves. Air Video is the current champ, worth every penny, and at $2.99 a bargain! Thanks to Volcs0 for the heads up in this thread!

I just had to add this, it seems that with the arrival of the iPad the computer has gotten a lot more personal. I know it is not the first tablet or first touch screen but it is very high quality. At first I thought it was an oversized iPod, now I am convinced of most of the hype.
