put a 2x500GB 7200RPM raid into a early 2008 MBP - damn!

two hitachi 500GB 7200rpm drives - one on the original sata bus and the other on the IDE bus in the optical drive bay (opti died) and it seems to be healthy and FAST. I'm sure it'd be fast if both drives were on sata busses, but it's nice as it is.

putting it through the paces, but looks solid

read/write up to about 100mb/s

What 500GB IDE drive are you using?

Are you using the MCE OptiBay or something more uh, custom? http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/

sorry - not an IDE drive, it's the same sata drive that is in a superdrive shaped caddy that converts the IDE port to an sata input

but the system sees the drive as an IDE drive

What's the hit on battery life?

Anyone think you can use one of these with a Bluray drive (obviously you'd need to do some SATA cable routing), thereby making a Mac mini that can play BD when booted into an OS that supports it?
