NIB Mini G4 1.42 BT/AE/Combo drive still available
#1
includes 512MB RAM and 80GB drive and Tiger, all for $449.

7 available at this particular store. I almost bought one, to replace the faithful but aging iMac G3/400 DV that my son has used for 6 years now.

I already have a spare LCD monitor; all I'd need are speakers.

Opinions?

Not too shabby, even if you'll want to grab the putty knife, rip the thing open, and stick a 1GB DIMM in there right away. I've been pretty happy with the performance of the 1.25GHz Mac minis I've deployed, once I bumped up the RAM to 1GB. Your son will be a happy camper, for sure.

Love the Mac mini. Best thing I've bought in a long time. You're right about the memory. It was fun cracking it open and installing it.

That's a very nice deal, no doubt! You shouldn't wait on it, as surely there will be takers.Wink

Tell me where it is, and I'll figure out a way to get one for myself/my wife, as she's been a trooper for 2 years with an old iMac DV SE 400MHz/1GB RAM/120GB HD/Airport/Tiger, and it's time for her to move on up.(tu)

Seriously, send me a PM with the store info, please.Big Grin

My local Costco (Portland) had some of the 1.42's (80 Gig, 512 RAM, Superdrive, BT, AE, BT Keyboard, BT mouse and AppleCare) for $699 tonight. I thought that was pretty good deal.

That Costco deal is OK. Let's call it $450 for the Mini plus another $250 for keyboard, mouse, and AppleCare. The AppleCare alone retails for $150, which leaves $100 for the mouse and keyboard.

So if you want those items, it's an OK price and a convenient way to get them.

Fry's had it with the Superdrive for $399.

It also had 512, so while it might not have been the next series (better video, 5400), it still had the SD and AE/BT.

I paid $323 for mine, but no wireless, back in Jan, but it was a gen 1, with 256mb.

All the G4s have only one slot. I use all the same stuff on the Mini as I do the 512mb G3/400 Pismo, and Tiger, etc., all do just great, with occasional beachball.

I also saw genuine Apple keyboards at MicroCenter at $29 as the new price.

I PM'd rexrzer on this, but titled the PM wrong. The figure in this thread is correct--$449.

I just bought two. Two are now left on the shelf.
