In my experience, people who aggressively attempt to keep others from exercising their behavioral preferences very often do so to hide their own 'troubling' preferences from themselves. And, inasmuch as humans are frail creatures, typically fail at both.

I hope and pray regularly that the 'Christian Fundamentalists' read past their own propaganda and recognize the gentle philosophy of acceptance and forgiveness that are at the center of the teachings of Christ.

And then I remember that 'religious power' is just another aspect of 'political power' which is exercised by establishing and maintaining control over other human beings.
