At the Apple Store...
#1
I'm using a new Mac mini.

I've got over 30 apps open, almost as many windows, and the thing still runs pretty brisk.

Opening Safari takes one bounce. Most of these apps *are* idle, so that's not much strain on the CPU. I can't install iStat, so no info on the fan speeds.

The exhaust is still just barely warm, even with all this stuff open and dragging a 4MB TIFF or an 82MB mov all over the display.

The housing is still cool in the front half, barely warm at the exhaust port.

I want one.

Seriously.

Easy solution. Buy one.

I will. I've got some additional disposable income one the way.

Switching to some of the heavy duty apps causes the .mov to get choppy of a second or two, but then everything straightens out.

Going to 4G RAM should alleviate some of that (as would shutting down a few apps).

I want to replace our 1.83Ghz C2D Mini with a new Mini but the wife wants an iMac. I've got to figure
out a way to convince her to get the Mini. We have a very good Soyo 24" LCD monitor with a P-MVA LCD
panel, not the cheap TN panels that went in them later. I don't want to move up to a 27" and I don't want
drop down to a 21.5". I figure I can easily get $400 for the old Mini.
