best citronella candle for keeping away mosquitos? (esp one available in canada)
#1
i was at a small deck bbq party once in New Jersey where they had a few certain powerful citronella candles burning that kept the bugs away -even though you could see bugs flying ten yards away under the light in the yard and bats were having a feast on them. while i was on that deck i didnt get one bite and expected to get eaten alive.

i would really like to get some candles like that here (north of toronto) because the skeeters are traveling in vicious hoards after sundown right now, and i haven't seen candles work as well as that before or since.

the candles at the party looked almost like green carwax cans but i'm not sure if there were other kinds too.

any recommendations?

I am checking with a buddy in NJ right now in the meantime I have been told lemongrass and garlic can also keep those pesky bugs away. You might lose friends tho'.

Have you tried "Scent Away" soap from Hunters Specialty? Shower / bathe with it before going out. Bugs are much less likely to bug you. I've bought it at Walmart (sporting goods section) and at Amazon.com.

Sounds like they might've been using this?

I've got one of those and I bought it at Target; my daughter used it last night and she said it worked really well.
