The Early Returns - Your favorite new series so far?
#1
Nothing has really rocked my world this season, so far, but a few efforts worth my time.

The Event - Good(ish), but not even close to filling the gaping hole left by the island of Lost. Most notable for me is just how flat and unintriguing a show becomes when the questions/mysteries are answered too soon. Drains all the mojo right out of a show.

Detroit 1-8-7 - Pretty good so far. I'm a couple of episodes behind, but I can see some real potential. They at times try a little too hard to do NYPD Blue better than NYPD Blue, but if they can find their own voice this one could be worth sticking with.

Chase - So far, so good. Pretty good for a little brain bubble gum.

Hawaii 5-O - I'll probably fall away from this one. From what I've seen, a little by the numbers for me.

The Good Guys - Best new show of the season (It got an early start, but I still count it as a new kid). Only network "can't miss it" show so far.

Rubicon - Low key, but a great dollop of espionage for the tube. Right up there with The Good Guys on my list of must see shows.

Looking forward to the premiere of The Walking Dead on Halloween, but it will have to be every bit as good as its trailers for me to stick with a show about zombies; a genre that I've never had an interest in.

The only one I've seen is Hawaii 5-O. It's a dumb show but sometimes that is just the ticket.

Law & Order LA had a wee bit of promise, but it's too much like any other Hollyweird case. I expected more 'Training Day'. LA criminal activity (statistically) tends to focus more around gangs than starlets.

The Good Guys - Best new show of the season...

I enjoy The Good Guys as well. Am trying to like Hawaii 5-O (the setting and actors are nice to look at) but so far it's just not keeping my attention. And something about the casting choice bothers me... I can handle Kono being female, but Korean? If they wanted to keep the name of the original character, it would seem only fitting to use a Hawaiian actor.

Actually, I kinda enjoy the Pawn Shop show on History channel. Dunno how new that is, but I stumbled on it a week or so ago.

I loved the pilot of Lone Star, but that's already been canceled. I also love Terriors on FX. Event is kinda meh. Chase is surprisingly appealing—maybe it's the cast—but it's nothing you haven't seen before.

I can't take it that Mad Men's season is ending. So The Walking Dead better be good. :villagers:

...tried 'Good Guys' but Colin Hanks (sp?) is unwatchable.....and the bullet sound effect they use is VERY....VERY annoying.....!!

Watched the first episode of "No Ordinary Family" off of iTunes (free). God, it sucked. I was embarrassed for Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz, considering the good shows they been on in the past. Guess that mortgage payment isn't going to make itself.
