No, not LEGO design.... LOGO design.
I'm starting to think about a logo for my "potential" ice cream store/shoppe/cart/truck.
Does anyone here have expertise in this area? What would something like that cost? After designed and paid for, I'm assuming I would then hold the rights to the logo?

I would expect to pay $800 to $2000 for a professionally designed logo.
Students work for less. You may be able to find a hungry freelancer willing to do it for less as well.
Invariably, you get what you pay for.
Also, yes you own full rights to the logo designed for you typically. There should be a contract involved. Designers are typically granted use of the logo for portfolio purposes.

IIRC, there are a couple forum members who do some really great work. I asked around when I needed my logo designed a few years ago- if they still frequent the board, I am sure you'll hear from them.
I ended up doing some trade with a graphic designer I know so I didn't use any of the forum contacts, but the designs in their portfolios were fantastic.

You are going to probably want more than just a logo.
Take away menus, flyers, buy 10 get one free cards, hats, umbrella, custom cups, does each flavor need it's own little logo, etc. Etc

i made our new fire logo for work (forest service). I would be willing to help by making some sketches that you can take to get digitized or turn over to a pro.
