"Why is This GOP House Candidate Dressed as a Nazi?"
#11
Never heard of Rich Lott and don't feel any urge to defend him. You Democrats are groupies. You seek your identities by being members of groups. Minority, hispanic, union, black, brown, yellow, male, female, immigrant, one-legged immigrant. I only identify with ideas and specific persons who advance them. I am sorry if you understand.

It will be interesting to see if this guy wins in November.
Not certain this district has ever elected a Republican, maybe during the early 20th or late 19th century, not recently. It's a GOP throwaway district and they could care less who carries the tag. Like in almost any Massachusetts district.

I don't have a problem with it. Unless this guy was a completely gung-ho "we must dress up as SS men because they were so cool" ringleader, I'd give him a pass.

I'll confess that I only posted this because things were kind of slow in the forum and I found it to be interesting. There is a fair chance that his decision to dress up as an SS man is innocent enough (though perhaps not), but it was an odd choice for someone who probably has had ambition to run for a federal office as a strong conservative. If a liberal candidate for federal office had dressed up as a Jihadist to do reenactments of the war in Iraq, you can be sure that many conservative groups would go apoplectic about it. Of course, what the Jihadists' have done is more recent than what the SS did and emotions are more raw. But what the SS did is still pretty raw for quite a few people.

A good number of the re-enactors are wishing "they were there".

They look back to a time when men were men. They forget that blood was still blood, gangrene was gangrene, etc, etc.

I'm starting a Texas Air National Guard reenactment group if anyone is interested. It's great if you are short on time for hobbies
because there is no commitment and you don't even have to show up.

What a Bush league thing to say.

It's not as if I believe this proves the guy supports Nazi ideals or is anti-Semitic. But remember how everybody got on Prince Harry's case for doing it once, and he was a 20-year-old unelected big dumb Royal. This could have been a clue for Rich Iott as to how the public perceives such activity. His hobby indicates stupidity and insensitivity. Not really high on my list of things which I desire in my representative.
