I would imagine they took the body in order to take plenty samples for positive ID (the compound was not a place to stand around to film jerky CSI scenes) but then they disposed of the body ASAP to avoid the hassles of dealing with claims to the body or other PR nightmar--

That is part of it. I've read that the quick burial at sea was to comply with muslim tradition/law? requiring quick burial, and it was done at sea so no site could become a shrine.
