Isn't it weird that Frank Zappa's name and appearance were perfect for his persona and image?

I mean, what else could he have been named and how else could he have looked?

Yeah I've thought about that. What a face and the voice to go with it. But, despite what most people perceive, he was a pretty regular guy. We lost Frank much, much too soon.

The only other musician I can think of who has that weird combination of looks, voice, and talent is David Byrne.

I have always wondered whether it is more how a person looks that influences what they do, or if it is more what people do with their lives that influences how they look. Probably a little bit of both.

I think Buddy Hackett was "built from the ground up" to be funny. But still, I don't know of anyone whose name and looks adds up to a character like Zappa.

He grew up thinking his real name was Francis Vincent Zappa, but I think that he learned when he was an adult that his real name was actually Frank - he suffered all that teasing for nothing...

he was my hero...

There's a doctor named Frank Zappa on staff at one of the hospitals I work at.

He played the crazy and excentric drug kingpin on "Miami Vice" beautifully.
