Recommendations for portable iPad speakers?

I just got back from a road trip where I tried to use one of those cassette things to play music from my iPad through the car's stereo system. However, the sound quality was poor. Does anyone have experience with compact speakers that would work with an iPad in a car? I'd like to spend less than $50 if possible.
