On my mom's short list of famous people encounters stories:
She saw Jerry Lewis somewhere, tried to get his autograph, and he said "outa my way, kid."
(Hey, he spoke to her!)

Doesn't he have a secret about all of this he's supposed to tell at some point?

This must be difficult for him. To commit himself to one thing for so long and to go through the highs as well as the lows including the monotony but still following through is quite an accomplishment. Like the article mentions of Dick Clark, it's hard to let go after so long. When do you say enough is enough when it's for such a great cause? It would have been nice to let him go out his own way on the telethon.

Sorry to hear about that Black. Sometimes I tell my own kids "outta my way" when I gotta get to the restroom quickly. Smile

I got a MDA Telethon appeal in the mail a couple of days ago. Jerry was front and center in the thing.

Especially difficult since it appears that he was supposed to be involved this year as his last. It was MDA that changed its lineup, essentially with little or no notice to Jerry, at the beginning of August.
