Nothing about that has changed in the past month, or 2 months for that matter. Why imply otherwise?

That's the mask on the magnifying glass image. It's been that way since the forum began. It's not a problem with the browser.

But the combination of rounded-rectangles and square rectangles is entirely Apple's fault.

where did I imply? Steve was never in charge of MRF, if he was, the logo would have been right back in Dec 2005 when MRF started.

FWIW, space-time, there have been several web sites/blog entries over the years showing how Apple sometimes ignores its own HIG (human interface guidelines) documention devs are supposed to follow.
