I haven't flown for at least 2-3 years and don't believe I've taken my laptop with me. However, I'm heading to Denver this weekend. Taking a small carryon with my clothing, my jacket and want to take my laptop. The question is... What are the rules for the laptop cases? I have about a 10 year Targus case... Laptop on one side and "files" on other side.
Any rules? Size limitations?

You'll be fine, unless you have a Mac Portable. Sunny and a high of 57 this weekend.

You should have no trouble. Just take the laptop out of the bag at the inspection and place it in a plastic bin. Don't forget to pick it up on the other side of the inspection.

Good luck finding space between you and the seat in front of you to actually use it. Watch for the person in front of you to suddenly recline without notice. If you're not careful, you can get your open laptop screen caught and broken. If you're flying up front, just lean back and let the flight attendants pour wine into your open mouth.

FWIW, what Drew said. I never try to use a laptop on an airplane in Coach any more. It's impossible. Perhaps an MBA might fit. It's easier to use a tablet.

I travel quite a lot throughout the year and, like others have said, traveling with a laptop is pretty easy. Just pull it out of the case and place it in its' own separate bin for screening and then you're good to go.
