Anyone here watch MIDSOMER MURDERS?
#1
My wife and I DVR the trio of mystery shows on Biography Channel Sunday Night (Poirot, Sherlock Holmes, and Midsomer Murders). I enjoy them all -- the actor playing Sherlock in this series is spot-on, and I've always loved David Suchet's Hercule Poirot -- and really look forward to watching Midsomer.

It just struck me as funny watching an episode a few weeks back; Barnaby (John Nettles) got a new assistant detective, whose last name is Jones.

Barnaby. Jones.

Those born during the last couple of decades won't get that, but I wonder if that was just a little detective in-joke or complete coincidence.

Anyway, it's a great series.

My wife and I like to watch Midsomer occasionally. There's a surprising amount of murder and mayhem for such a quaint little village!

PS: Brilliant use of "spot on." Do you have British roots?

We DVR Midsomer, and have also been DVR'ing Homicide: Life On The Streets on Sleuth channel. Missed it in primetime years back, and think it is one of the best cop shows ever; especially since the crimes have so little to do with anything, a bit like real life.

Midsomer is after all, a county, so there's lots of little towns (Badgers Drift) for mayhem to happen in. Causton, seemingly pronounced Corston, is the county seat, where headquarters is. And I think the Barnaby - Jones connection is deliberate, a little nod to the past.
