help w/ Pismo problem
#1
Pismo worked fine last June except it didn't have a battery but the yo-yo power cord worked fine. Recently, I was able to pick up a battery for it for a good price and I thought it'd be nice to have it working fully again. I keep it in OS 9 so that a HyperCard can work. [I have my reasons...] Anyhow, I put in the new battery and plug in the cord to charge it up, but I get nothing. I try to start the machine and I get no sound, nada, dead machine. Could a dead PRAM battery do this? I'm pretty sure it must be dead by now too. It was not dropped or in any kind of weird environment since June just sitting on a shelf in my office. Suggestions????

Try unplugging the PRAM. They're sort of weird that way. A dead PRAM will cause it to not boot, but no PRAM and it'll boot.

Take out the optical drive and lift off the keyboard and you'll see the connector for the PRAM in the lower right corner of the keyboard opening.

Ditto on the PRAM-now watch, the replacement for that will be more than you paid for the regular battery.

Nope. You can run without it, but it resets if you remove the Attery.

AcSales has them for $27.

Leave it plugged in for a week or two and the PRAM battery will probably recharge.
