iPod Touch alternatives??? Suggestions

Nephew is looking for a high capacity music player that does music and videos. Is the Apple iPod Touch the only game in town since Zune discontinued in 2011?

My son is experimenting with using a refurbished Sony xperia. (He's taking a course on Android app development this summer.) He leaves the phone part unactivated. You can add a microSD card at whatever storage you need. The xperia was about $80 shipped.

Thanks Acer, thats very similar to what I was looking for.

Buzz, the kid likes Android so I was looking along those lines. He has a Samsung phone already. I told him just to use that with his card. He wanted a stand alone music player that didnt kill his battery.
