IKEA Hanging Umbrella Rope Broke... :(
#1
Picked up this hanging umbrella from IKEA last year, used it a few times, put away for the winter and yesterday I noticed the roping had snapped.

Anyone repair one of these before (any hanging umbrella)? Is this a fairly simple repair?

You have to fish it through with a long metal wire. You can pick some up at your local home improvement place. It is sold in spool.

Another option is to try to vacuum a smaller diameter/lightweight string from the opposite side of tube (they also sell this string it home improvement places.)

I have done similar repairs on other items involving long tubes.

What Carm said. A common problem in the old crank up umbrellas, before 'market umbrellas' with visible pulley systems came into vogue. I've fixed a few of those like that. Fish tape is your friend (fish tape is nothing more than stuff metal 'tape' that works like wire to pull or 'fish' rope or wire through a wall or tube.

Good luck ! It's a regular PITA.
