I didn't realize it was appropriate to talk about peoples family like that around here. I might as well voice my concern over on reddit from now on.

Lighten up, pinion. It's not like we said she looked like a fat, old whore. We were pulling your leg, not insulting your bride. Show her this thread and see if she feels insulted.

Yeah. You guys were right. I was just having a bad day. And I'm frustrated I couldn't describe the problem better.
In the end I added the account that was mine but getting alerts on my mom's phone as an alternate address on my appleid. She doesn't get alerts now. Thanks for putting up with my baby tantrum.

Hey, you are definitely right, this is not a rant. I found this thread as I had the same issue - here's what happened with me. I bought my father-in-law an unlocked iphone 5, completely clean. He doesn't live in the US so he is using a completely separate SIM card, everything. The idea was though to set him up so he could view pictures my wife and I take. So I had to set him up with an itunes account, as well as an Email account since he doesn't have one as he's very non-tech saavy. Set up a Gmail account, and got him started. Next thing I know, a few people added me to photo streams, and he was getting the pictures!! My Apple ID never touched that phone! The only thing I can think of is that somehow, which I don't recall right now and haven't been able to check as I can't get into his itunes, is that I used my own email as a back-up address. So you are right dude. The arrogant guys at Apple have all the reason to admit to this bug, it really exists! Please, post anything more on here as it develops, and I will too

That's what does it if I recall...
1. Add your email address as someone's backup recovery address 2. Have someone share a photo stream to that address 3. It will be shared to that persons phone Even though your email address doesn't show up anywhere unless you actually go to the website and look for the emergency backup. This was awhile ago... Are you on the newest iOS 6.1.3 and it's still happening? I just removed my email so it quit happening so I haven't thought much about it since.

Hey, thanks for chiming in again, and sorry I disappeared for so long. I just now got access back into my father-in-law's apple ID, I had written down the password on a piece of paper and couldn't get in till I saw him in person again till now.
Sure enough, there was my email address as the recover address. So I just changed that to another email address I use that forwards to my address, but that nobody knows so I won't get added into any photo streams with that address. So hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks again this is a completely valid issue, you called out the tech guys this is a clear bug that really exists! |
