Is this deal worth it or is there another program that will do the same thing?

I got it as part of one of the Mac Update bundles last year. I needed it to burn Blu-Ray discs, which I don't believe anything else (other than maybe FCP) can do on a Mac.
I'm still using 10.6.8, and before I got Toast 11, I was still using either Toast 7 or 8 and they still worked fine. Not sure if they'll run in a newer OS though.
Perhaps if you let us know what you plan on using it for, we can tell you if it's worth it. You can burn data discs right from Finder.

Using Toast 8 on 10.6.8 - works fine. I looked at the 11 deal, but there were quite a few negative reviews.

Previously I used Toast but since disk utility seemed to work for most of what I do.
I haven't burned anything lately but had thought of making copies of my DVD movies and storing them on an external harddrive. Also, I burn some dvds of movies I make.

I use Toast 10 to shrink HD TV shows to anamorphic WS DVDs and it does a great job. Fast and picture quality is excellent. And I'm picky about this.
Previous to this, I always has access to Toast (FIL always bought the most recent version so I got his hand me downs) but I never had occasion to use it.
