I don't understand why Microsoft would't fix the latest version of IE that runs under XP. Support has ended on XP but not IE

Like Apple, because they can.

And sloppy products from Microsoft surprise anyone because.........?
The true shame is that the courts allowed MS to get away with NOT "unbundling" IE from the OS so that users could delete said gaping security hole. Maybe the NSA had it in with the courts so that their job of illegal monitoring would be easier.

Try to decouple Webkit from iOS or Mac OS. Maybe the latter technically has a way to remove all dependencies for Webkit, but the former definitely does not. One of my biggest frustrations with iOS is the inability to install any true third party web browsers. Don't get me wrong, I love me some iCab, but wouldn't it be nice to have something that didn't rely on iOS's Webkit? A hobbled version of Webkit to boot, as third party apps traditionally have not been able to tie into Apple's Nitro Javascript engine. To be fair, XP users can mostly avoid using IE these days and enjoy updated browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. Even on my Snow Leopard Macs I've largely moved away from Safari because of lack of proper security updates (not to mention severe performance issues at this point) and I suggest more users try to find alternate patched solutions for their aging systems. Edit: I likewise miss using Camino on my older Macs, but I needed something with some semblance of proper support. Firefox is pretty much where I've settled on these systems. As late as summer 2012, I still had an iBook G4 with Leopard in rotation. Even with that PowerPC Mac, I made the switch over to TenFourFox in order to enjoy a safer and better supported web experience than provided by Camino, Safari, etc. |
