Mother's Day Sunday. What gift are you giving?
#1
Like her or not you are probably at the minimum sending your mummy a card for Sunday...or are you getting her the 19.95 bouquet of Tulips? What are you giving your mums?

I ask, and they comply, my kids give to a charity of their choice for any Holiday..Christmas, birthdays, mother's day etc etc. Nothing I want or need these days.

I never did anything specifically for Mother's Day, because it was so close to my mother's birthday, sometimes falling on the same day.

We had an office manager at my old job who managed to strong-arm most of her small staff into giving her something for Mother's Day. My first clue about this idiocy was when one of the staff asked me what I was getting for the office manager for Mother's Day. I asked why the he!! they were getting her ANYTHING, and the cow orker said feebly, "Well, she's a mother." I pointed out that she wasn't MY mother.

Last year I set my mom up with a couple of shepherds hooks and bird feeders just outside her kitchen window. Best gift ever! She loves watching her cardinals. This year, it's a pretty calla lilly and plant stand.

I AGREE! silly silly people in that office. Or people with a bad conscience.

I will coordinate with my sisters. They usually take Mom to brunch at the Botanical Gardens or some similar site.

My lovely wife is getting an iPad Mini. Her iPad v1 is too heavy and too big, and her iPhone is too small.

A gift certificate to the beauty salon for whatever voodoo goes on there and a limo to and from. My mom's 94 so getting around is not easy anymore. I usually send flowers for all holidays but after Easter she took my wife on the side and said she really doesn't want them so I'll be skipping them.

I'll be doing a honeydew day with my mom on Saturday. I also made ceramic "car cups" at the studio. Think tall and skinny to avoid splash overs with a non slip grippy texture on the outside. I have those for mom, mom in law and step mom.

i don't know what happened; we usually don't celebrate Hallmark holidays. Smile

My own mother is being taken to brunch at the country club by my wife. I'll be busy sailing in Bellingham.

That's so wonderful Joe! How lucky you are to still have Mom around.

Love it!

My mom is really into being socially conscientious so I'm going to this shop called "Ethical Choices" where they have beautiful scarves, jewelry, bags and housewares made by small business people in the developing world, and all the proceeds go to charities. Probably getting a spring scarf and tote bag for my mom, easy to mail...
(Oh and a bar of Theo's organic milk chocolate Coconut Curry, her fav...)
