Yeah. Keep not vaccinating your children, y'all.

Don't want to overwhelm the little tot's systems? Make multiple visits to your doctor over the course of weeks/months instead of having several shots at once

There's no evidence that the immunization schedule as now recommended by CDC causes problems, but delaying them certainly can. It's better if people stick to the schedule, there is no benefit to "multiple visits."

Otherwise I agree with you gabester that it's a selfish and irresponsible and dangerous choice not to immunize. The best we can do is keep educating people so that hopefully they make the right choice.

The primary problem with vaccination is that it goes again our notions of individual autonomy.

Kids typically do not like going to the doctor. Doctor = shots. Spread out those immunizations and the doctor fear gets even worse.

The thinking in the high exemption zone of Bellingham, WA, and probably Marin and Minneapolis too, is "I'm feeding my lactose intolerant, gluten free, peanut allergic child only locally sourced organic food and we never go to McDonalds or drink pop, why would I fill him with these potentially dangerous chemicals? And the evil drug manufacturers are probably hiding the truth from us. And these diseases have been wiped out, right? So, I'm going to exempt my child."

I have two siblings whose children are all adults. My siblings do not believe that vaccines (or fluoride) are worth the risk. Their children are all healthy thanks to herd immunity and travel. Most of the children have decided on their own or the government decided that they needed vaccines to travel. My siblings are religious fundamentalists. My kids have had every vaccine available.

Whoa, Nelly. There is also significant evidence that links vaccinations to seizures and health problems.
I think each parent has to make a choice based on what they feel is appropriate and deal with the consequences.
My point is that you don't have to be an unconscious religious freak to make this choice.

First, you're wrong about the basic facts.

Second, even if you were right, it's a shyyti thing not vaccinate your kids. When you opt out, you're banking on everybody else doing the responsible thing and immunizing their kids, so your can own sneak by through the math of herd immunity. So you want all the benefit, but you put the risk on my child? If you think there's a risk, you want everybody else to carry it for you? Because I promise if no kids were vaccinated and we were again plagued with measles, mumps, rubella, diptheria, pertussis, polio and small pox, you'd do anything to get your kids vaccinated.

Consequences my ass. Contagious diseases don't respect property lines.
