Efffffffffffffffff!
Got a weird random message that I was out of disk space today, knowing I still had about 25% left....leads to:
• Spinning beach ball
• Forced restart
• Disk Utility from emergency disk
• Unable to repair disk
• Unable to boot to anything but the recovery disk
Today is August 30, 2013. The MBA was purchased on August 26, 2012.
Last backup? Probably around December of 2012...I own that problem...not the end of the world.
Did I say "Efffffffffffffffffffffffff?"
Suggestions?

I bet they cover it, especially if you call Apple, and offer to buy Applecare on the phone right then.

I wonder what the cost of a new SSD is vs. AC. Maybe more bang for your buck, or would Apple upgrade the SSD?

I just lost the hard drive in my MBA provided by work. It was likely purchased in November 2012 but i had the thing in a backpack when i was in a bike accident so the corner looks a bit chewed so i'm not sure apple will consider it covered - although it worked for two months since the accident.
The hard drive appears to have simply disappeared.
I didn't have a backup although my important work is on another machine. Still, its going to take a few days to get the machine set up properly. Work doesn't provide a backup system for this machine. This always annoyed me but I never go around to setting one up for a variety of reasons.
Dropped it off with tech at work and told them the story. He said that he'd date a look since he's never seen an Apple SSD die. First time for everything...

Ummm, yeah... Weird. My 2010 Mini C2D has dual hard drives. The drive with 10.8 just up and disappeared the other day. Would still boot to the 10.6 drive, but nothing I tried would fix the problem... Disk utility would see the disk, but no fixy.
In the end, Disk Warrior 4 to the rescue. But weird that all these drives are disappearing...
