AZ's latest bit of idiocy has gone too far even for AZ republicans. Looks like Brewer is going to veto it - she's been singing a different tune since the finger waving in the Prez' face a while back.
Seems to me like she's running for VP.
Will the loonies of AZ stand for this? She's already thrown in her support for Obamacare (or better said, refuses to try to torpedo it).

I think money might trump homophobia.
The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee said in a statement that one of its key missions is to promote economic vitality in Arizona.
"On that matter we have heard loud and clear from our various stakeholders that adoption of this legislation would not only run contrary to that goal but deal a significant blow to the state's economic growth potential. We do not support this legislation," the committee said.
And this.
Dear Governor Brewer:
"After careful study and analysis of Senate Bill 1062, our organizations, which represent the broad spectrum of Arizona's business community, respectfully request that you veto this bill.
"We are concerned over the potential for businesses to be exposed to an increased risk of litigation. Businesses carry out laws every day that could, under the construct of this legislation, be construed as a "state action," which could result in increased disputes over the application of current and future law. We are troubled by any legislation that could be interpreted to permit discrimination against a particular group of people in the marketplace.
"The legislation is also already clearly having a negative effect on our tourism industry, one of the largest sectors of the economy. The bill could also harm job creation efforts and our ability to attract and retain talent. We all have a fervent desire for Arizona to be a welcoming, attractive destination for the top talent that will be the cornerstone of our continued economic growth.
"If specific Arizona issues related to religious liberty are identified, we would stand ready to work with anyone to ensure that any solution addresses those problems while also ensuring that all individuals feel welcome in our state and that business is not hurt."

The only reason it's gone too far for many conservatives who might otherwise have no problem with the bill is that it will cost a lot of Arizonans a lot of money because of the certainty of very active boycotts of Arizona goods and services.

Corporate tech giant Apple has asked Gov. Jan Brewer to veto the controversial religious freedom bill SB1062, the company and the Governor’s Office confirmed.
Brewer spokesman Andrew Wilder said the governor spoke on the phone with the company.
The request comes as Apple prepares to open a new sapphire glass manufacturing plant in Mesa. The plant, which Brewer and other political leaders have touted as economic development coup for Arizona, will employ about 700 full-time employees.
With its veto request, Apple joins other anti-SB1062 business groups that have asked Brewer to veto the controversial bill. The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Technology Council, Greater Phoenix Economic Council and Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce came out against the bill the day after the Legislature passed it. The influential Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and Greater Phoenix Leadership have since sought a veto from Brewer as well.
The chorus of anti-SB1062 businesses kept getting louder on Monday as 83 companies, trade organizations and other business groups signed onto a letter, originally sent on Friday by the Arizona Technology Council, urging the governor to veto the bill. The additional signees included several major hotel chains, tourism groups, corporate giants like AT&T and other technology companies.
Numerous business organizations have urged Brewer to veto SB1062, which supporters say will protect religious freedom and critics say will allow companies to use religious beliefs to discriminate against the LBGT community.

The Tea Party's "Bus" is about the size of a clown car these days, and they can't pay for the gasoline. I'm not worried about her.

Maybe someone can answer a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to about this bill. If a person is an employee of a company and has religious objections to serving someone, can they sue the company if the owner fires them for not serving a costumer that the owner has no problem with (and is more than happy to take their money)? Or does the bill only "protect" the owner's religious freedom in such a situation?
For example, suppose a Muslim man is hired at a convenience store as a cash register clerk. And suppose that the man says that he has religious objections to talking to (much less selling anything to) women who are not in hijabs and accompanied by an older male adult. Does the law (bill) protect his "religious freedom" in that case?

With many republicans hoping she vetoes it, even some of those that erroneously voted for it, I don't see how she can do nothing and just let it pass or not veto it.

It REALLY annoys me that some of those AZ repubs are wanting to have their cake after they've eaten it - some voted for the bill and are now asking the gov to veto it. We've seen this before - staging a filibuster then voting for the bill afterward...
I don't think she will do nothing - but this is a great, "HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK AT ME!!!" moment for her and she's gonna milk it for all it's worth.

She'll veto it. I dislike her, but she's not THAT crazy. I think she'd veto it anyway even without the media frenzy, just based on the gentle warnings of the business community.
Hal, the photo you posted shows Rocco's Little Chicago. I eat there all the time. Excellent pizza and local beer on tap. Great place!

Ah, so she's presidential material now.
