Hello All:
We live in PA and bought wife a new car in NJ and at the time of sale purchased an extended service plan (VSA). For the usual reasons I cancelled the VSA and Toyota refunded the money for the VSA except for the sales tax. I have to submit a form to the proper taxing authority to get the tax refunded as the dealer forwarded the collected sales tax to the state.
1) What is the proper form to submit?
2) Do I submit the form to PA or NJ?
TIA

pbarra,
This begs the question... Why did you purchase the warranty in the first place?

Space,
You need to read my question again. I don't care where he bought it. I'm just intrigued as to why he got the VSA because it sounds like it he never wanted it in the first place and is going through agita getting reimbursed for the sales tax.
I'm also intrigued to know what are "the usual reasons" for cancellation. I didn't ask that part of the question. I'm curious since I've never cancelled an extended warranty of any kind. Buyer's regret, non-use and/or attempted but failed use are the only reasons that come to mind.

I did a lot research before buying the car and did not consider the VSA. When signing the check to pay for the car I was offered the VSA. One out of warranty electromechanical repair could pay for the VSA. We agreed on a reduced price for the VSA but I did not know just how much I could get the VSA for because I did not research it prior to buying the car. I went ahead and purchased it knowing I could cancel within 30 days. My research revealed that I could buy it from another dealer for a much better discounted price so I cancelled. When I received the refund check it was less the tax I paid.
I have not experienced agita trying to get the sales tax back. I emailed the sales guy and he told me I needed a form. I found it difficult to find the form so I was hoping to leverage the collected wisdom of the forum. Since the forum did not come through I have since contacted PA for help. Two emails, a forum post and a little googling does not agita make.
