Just a note on the Fry's iPad Mini sale:
The Verizon versions are now sold out locally.
The two AT&T models are still available.

?? Minis use Intel graphics, which has always been inferior to discrete graphics.
We love our minis, but we use them as servers 99% of the time.

Apple's site should't have to go down for such routine tweaks, but it happens ALL THE TIME. There was an article not long back describing how Apple executives, yes, including Mr. Jobs, never took the web store seriously, even though it did business on par with the very expensive retail outlets. It's the whole Apple not getting web services thing, but on an even sillier scale.

See, that's what I thought. It wasn't just going to be retail, but even online as well. The Apple web store has a lot of products that can be ordered for ship to store, more than just the normal batch of stuff at the actual stores. Even some that would be seen as competitors to other Apple products likes cases, keyboards, etc. Nothing big like routers, phones, tablets, computers, but the peripherals were generally pretty safe. Not anymore. Also read that Fitbit's products will also no longer be carried. This is getting crazy.
Fitbit is still there now, but we will see for how long. I'm hoping they get to stay in stock, but…

Unless I'm mistaken that's not what he meant. The current 5000 graphics are generally considered fine for everything but heavy lifting, the 4000 graphics a bit less so, and now the 4000 is yet another year older.
It's the same situation with a 2012 13" MBP. You can love the ability to buy RAM and HD for them, but in the end the thing is using old graphics and that will determine usability that can't be upgraded.
For non-server use, a "typical" family editing snapshots and simple videos, the new base model mini is the best mini unless you've got one with optional graphics ("Iris" or whatever).

Huh? Got a link to that article? This sounds like pure fantasy to me.

Now search every story on the web about Jobs' involvement with retail stores, from interior design, to exterior design, to layout. He would physically visit flagship stores. Now look at the sorry state of Apple's online store over same timeframe.
