T Mobile iPhone 6+

My phone will be here Monday. I bought the T Mobile, thinking I would take it to Verizon instead of activating it on T Mobiile.

I went to a Verizon Store today and the guy there seemed to think it wouldn't work with Verizon, something about different bandwidths.

Was he just feeding me the company koolaid, or will it really not work?

Verizon iPhone bought at either subsidized OR device only (ie, full price) will work on Verizon, TMobile and ATT (but not Sprint).

TMobile iPhone bought at full price (from the Apple online or retail store) will work on TMobile or ATT (but not Verizon).

TMobile iPhone bought at full price (from the TMobile store) will only work with TMobile initially but should be eligible to be unlocked by TMobile after 40 or 60 days of service I believe. Once unlocked, it will work with ATT (but not Verizon).

So you are definitely out of luck to use that phone on Verizon. It won't work.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to take it to the Apple Store when you get it and either exchange for the Verizon version (if in stock) or just return it and begin your wait all over again.

Ok, the Unlocked TMobile iPhone 6 will work technically on Verizon, but like I posted before, you will have to activate the SIM in another Verizon phone. When you put the already activated SIM into the TMobile phone it should work just fine on Verizon.
You will not, however, see it as your phone when you go into your Verizon account online, and Verizon will not activate it straight out of the box, you will have to do the work around.
I doubt it is possible, because of lack of supply, but if you really want to use the phone on Verizon, it would be best to swap it for a Verizon version of the phone, which will also work out of the box on TMobile and ATT.

Ok, I didn't realize that, but now vaguely remember your post. Interesting about the workaround, but definitely looks like a lot of effort for Kate to go through.

You can get decent SIM cutters on Amazon.

Yep, if she has an active Verizon 4G LTE phone, then trim away.

No problem.
This is all new this year, and totally different from the other iPhones.
I didn't believe it myself, till I saw several different people post that they had done it and it had worked.
And, it is a lot of effort. I would say to get the Verizon version would be the better route.

Yep, if she has an active Verizon 4G LTE phone, then trim away.
Or even add LTE to her current plan? AT&T lets me do that via an online app or website. Don't even need to go to the store or call in.

Whew, confusing. Definitely not the Apple way, but I reckon ridiculous cell companies trying to mess with us. I want to buy from Apple Store, full price, and use it on any company I want at any time, plus put sim in while in Japan and use it there, Europe, Africa, etc. Which is worse, Verizon or Comcast? Or ATT? Sunk boys, we're sunk.

I think Apple is trying to shake up the industry with the new iPad Air 2 and Apple's own SIM in there. Apparently, that SIM is interchangeable between ATT, TMo and Sprint. You can change plans and carriers on the go as often as you want and no need to mess with SIM swapping, SIM cutting, etc.
