No More Video Podcasts on TIVO HD 3 or series 3

Was watching my Video podcasts drop lately, and after a chat with TIVO I find now its TIVO 4 and above for Podcasts.

Obsolescence for no reason other than they can. Like Skype shutting down the server so my G5 can no longer use the service.

I fired up the old PowerBook G4 a few days ago and tried to use Skype, but it didn't let me log in. I checked the password and it was OK. I didn't bother to investigate further. Now it makes sense.

Is this because of a software update? If so, can they "downgrade" the software on your box?
